Anna Calvera (1955-2018) was a thinker and researcher specializing in the field of graphic design. She graduated in graphic design and later earned a doctorate in Philosophy from the University of Barcelona. She worked as a professor at the University of Barcelona and at renowned design schools such as Elisava, Massana, and Eina.
Her institutional work also stands out, promoting projects, organizing conferences, and supporting various important entities and initiatives: she was a member of the ADG/FAD and the ADP; of the Design History Society; One of the founders of the Research Group in the History of Contemporary Art and Design (GRACMON) at the University of Barcelona and of the Design History Foundation, among others.
Considered one of the most authoritative voices in the field of design history and theory, she was a frequent lecturer and championed the importance of history for understanding the various phenomena of design, and its role as an economic factor.
