Francesco Faccin conceives of design as a discipline without borders or limits, constantly moving between industrial production, independent production, community design, and gallery work. For him, design should generate connections, reflection, and debate, especially when it arises from in-depth research that goes beyond the object itself. As he himself expresses it: “I am interested in design that provokes connections, thought, and debate, especially that which is the result of in-depth studies beyond the object itself. Design is a fantastic opportunity to deepen our relationship with the world around us.”
Born in Milan in 1977, in 2004 he began a nearly two-year collaboration with Enzo Mari, after which he worked with the luthier Francesco Rivolta. In 2007 he founded He has his own studio in Milan and, between 2009 and 2015, was a consultant to Michele De Lucchi. He currently directs a product design course at the Free University of Bolzano and also teaches at various universities in Italy and other countries. In 2013, he was named an Italian Fellow at the prestigious American Academy in Rome. Studio Francesco Faccin regularly collaborates with design galleries, private companies, public institutions, and non-governmental organizations, both in Italy and internationally, including names such as Rossana Orlandi and Nilufar.
