Born in Oviedo, northern Spain, Juan Díaz-Faes grew up drawing among papers and walls before studying Fine Arts at the University of Salamanca. He later completed a doctorate where he researched the creative process, interested in knowing how ideas originate and where they come from.
In 2011, he moved to Madrid, where he developed his prolific creative career. His versatility has led him to explore and explore different territories and disciplines such as illustration, poster design, his foray as a comic book writer and illustrator, muralism, painting, and digital art.
With a restless, sincere, and relaxed approach to artistic creation, and a friendly and approachable visual language, this artist manages to bring likable compositions and characters to life through geometric shapes, lines, and vibrant patterns. But at the same time, Díaz-Faes's work and narrative require attention and a close reading, as each detail offers its own diversity and meaning. Each work contains differences within itself. Each stroke takes over the spaces and the different materials he works on as a support (canvas, paper, aged fabrics, cement, ceramics, wood, digital...), opening up a new world of aesthetic perception. This is undoubtedly one of the most significant dimensions of the artist's world, which restores to us the capacity to feel and perceive, in a time and historical context that strips us of those sensations.
