Mathias Hahn is a London-based industrial designer with a strong international background. He graduated from the University of Essen, Germany, in 2004 and subsequently completed a master's degree at the Royal College of Art in London under the tutelage of Ron Arad. During his formative years, he gained professional experience in the product design department of Volkswagen in Wolfsburg, which strengthened his interest in industrial processes and mass production. Once established in London, he worked as a freelance designer for Tom Dixon and in 2006 co-founded OKAYstudio, a platform from which he developed projects for renowned international brands and clients.
His design approach is characterized by a deep interest in the use, functionality, and production feasibility of objects, combined with a conceptual and narrative vision of the creative process. Hahn conceives of design from two perspectives: one oriented towards solving concrete needs of daily life and another more experimental one, where play and history function as creative catalysts. This duality is reflected in products that, in addition to being useful, incorporate subtle humor, social references, or a certain naiveté. His career has been recognized with awards such as the 2008 Young Professional Award from the YDMI and the 2010 German Design Award for Emerging Designer.
