Sebastian Hepting, a German designer based in Munich, has specialized in lighting for over two decades. His career began in 2000 as an assistant to furniture designer Vladimir Kagan, developing his own furniture collection while working between New York and Italy. In 2006, he moved to Japan to collaborate with Toshiyuki Kita at his Design Lab in Osaka, which allowed him to explore Japanese arts and crafts. Since 2003, Hepting has worked with Ingo Maurer & Team in Munich, contributing their own designs to the collection and developing innovative luminaires and objects. Their design MOODMOON, which combines natural and digital materials, won the New York City Design Award in 2021. In addition, their collaboration with KAIA Lighting on the CANDLELIGHT luminaire received the German Design Award 2023.
