Each lamp in Bocci's 84.1 family is individually crafted by true master glass artisans. The technique for achieving this extraordinary lamp shape involves capturing a bubble of white glass within a fine copper mesh basket and then immersing it in hot, clear glass. Air is then introduced into the mold to push the white glass through the mesh, creating a delicate, cushion-like shape suspended within the thick outer layer of clear glass. Sometimes, the copper mesh basket folds and creases, adding unique finishing characteristics to each piece. The ripples in the outer form are a natural consequence of the manufacturing process and naturally accentuate the subtle, white "cushion" inside. Finally, a low-voltage LED or xenon light source is introduced into the piece, which, when projecting light, emits a warm coppery tone.
