The AMA collection visually evokes the delicate shells of mussels that produce treasured pearls. Meticulously cut, substantial-sized glass encloses a pearl at its center, forming a light source that provides soft ambient illumination.
The name of this collection refers to pearls, specifically to the Japanese female pearl divers called "Ama." In Japanese, the word "ama" refers to a "Sea Woman," a diver who traditionally harvested pearls in Japan for centuries.
Two construction variations of the assembly are available, which can be pre-configured to determine whether the shell will open or close, evoking real-life pearl mussels. "These lights allow for beautiful combinations of open and closed shells, always creating an original constellation," explains Václav Mlynár.
