There is an intrinsic sensuality to the Moiré pattern projected onto the swaying Buri Bell pendant. This optical beauty is achieved when Filipino weavers take the heartwood of the Asian palm, the most delicate fibers of this native palm, and tie them almost touching each other, as if they are embroidering silk threads. The villages where these lighting fixtures are made are socially responsible cottage industries located near the coast, and their tradition of weaving fishing nets provides these artisans with the extraordinary experience needed for the precision required to create such tightly woven compositions. The Buri Bell differs from its namesake, the Bulb, in that it is slightly shorter, so its upper flare is a bit larger, giving us the impression of a very organic and natural bell above us. It brings more sobriety and simplicity to our spaces than loud chimes. This collection is also available in a smaller version, and both sizes come in black or natural.
