La Gallina celebrates 25 years as a consolidated classic of Mexican design and as one of the most emblematic pieces by Mauricio Lara. Originally designed as a unique piece, it emerged from a creative exercise aimed at reinterpreting everyday objects. It takes the classic Mexican egg basket and transforms it into an object that evokes memories, smells, and the nostalgia of childhood. Its lights, which simulate illuminated eggs, create a play of light, shadows, and warm reflections that envelop the piece.

Born in 2000, its success and demand led to its production until 2004, reaching approximately 980 pieces. Its structure is based on a hand-woven basket by an artisan from Guadalajara, whose work, full of character and mastery, marked the essence of the piece. Since then, La Gallina has been featured in numerous design exhibitions in Mexico and abroad, and has transcended borders: designers such as Ingo Maurer and Matali Crasset include La Gallina in their collections. Recognized with a Silver Mention at the XII Quorum Award and nominated for the Good Design collection of the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design in 2002, La Gallina is now produced in a limited edition by Diez Company, a leading lighting design company in Mexico and Latin America, reaffirming its relevance and consolidating its status as an icon of contemporary Mexican design.
