Poul Henningsen developed the PH 5 in 1958 in response to the constant changes in the shape and size of incandescent light bulbs, creating a lamp that could be used with any light source. The iconic design is based on the same principles as Henningsen's three-shade system, ensuring that the light is soft, pleasant, and completely glare-free, making it the perfect dining room table lamp. Originally, the PH 5 was fitted with red and blue shades to enhance the color of the light; however, these have been removed in later designs. As modern light sources, they reproduce daylight much more effectively than in 1958. Available in various color variations, the PH 5 is a much-loved and well-known pendant lamp found in many homes around the world.
